Mortgage rates are welcoming the new year with a new one-year low. According to Freddie Mac, the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate this week is down three basis points to 6.15%. One year ago, it averaged 6.91%. The 15-year fixed rate dropped six basis points to 5.44%.
