AWS pledges to spend $5B in Mexico, launches new Mexico server region

In an announcement Tuesday, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon’s cloud computing division, said it plans to invest 5billioninMexicooverthenext15yearsasapartofa“long−termcommitment”intheregion.AportionofthatinvestmentisanewserverregioninMexicolaunchingtoday,AWSMexico,thatwillallowAWScustomerstorunapplicationsandserveusersfromAWSdatacenterslocatedinthecountry.AWSestimatesthatconstructionandongoingoperationofAWSMexicowilladdroughly5 billion in Mexico over the next 15 years as a part of a “long-term commitment” in the region.
