Santander to close 44 branches risking hundreds of jobs
Santander has put hundreds of jobs at risk after unveiling plans to close 44 branches across the country. The lender, which recently acquired high street rival TSB, could cull nearly 300 jobs as part of the cost-cutting plan, which is in response to more customers using digital banking. It means the company will be left with just 305 sites across the country – with only 80pc of those offering vital services such as mortgage advice as well as in-person cash and cheque deposits.
